  1. Yusuf says:

I understand what he is trying to get at but to discredit culture entirely or saying that wearing pants lower than ankles or not having a bread is haram is going a little far. Those are hadiths that are solid but if you do not wear your pants lower than your ankles and its not out of arrogance than its fine, like wise shaving the beard is debated among scholars and doesn’t make you go to hell. I mean like wise if he changed his last name then that is haram, we are to be named after our fathers even if they are Kaffir, Umar ibn Al-Khattab – Al-khattab was a kaffir. Its nice but to say some people are going to hell because of small things is a little much.

to yusef who made the first comment ; brother before making these statement that you have made out of a lack of knowlege you should refer to the ulimah about the halaal and the haraam. Also whatever so called scholars says that the beard is not fard should check there aqeeda before they mislead any one else as they have apperently misled you. We are all in seek of knowlege and those with a minimum amount of it should not attempt to discredit those who posess more than them. The best of us are the best in taqua so keep studying and as salaamu alaykum.

to abu tuaba; ameen akhi !!! some times the culterally driven people need a reality check, as always i have enjoyed and benifited from your lecture and may Allah bless you and your loved ones! as salaamu alaykum!

  2. Mustafa says:

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah wa barakatuhu,

Prophet s.a.w.s. said that what is below the ankles is in the hellfire; it’s not Abu Taubah’s idea. Likewise, there has not been, until the modern times, any serious debate about whether beard is obligatory; only after Muslims lost the dunya to the kuffar did some felt pressured to “adjust” Islam to kufr culture and beliefs; beard is just one of the casualties of that process. It does not mean that you will stay in hell forever if you’re comitting any of these sins; only when a person does not consider those things which are considered by all to be sin to be exactly that does (s)he become a kafir.

    • Ahmed Muhammed says:

Assalaimu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I agree with Ustadh Abu Taubah, that we should follow the Sunnah, and forsake following the kufar in their culture. I disagree with bro. Yusuf respecfully on his statements. The statement where he said, “I mean like wise if he changed his last name then that is haram, we are to be named after our fathers even if they are Kaffir, Umar ibn Al-Khattab – Al-khattab was a kaffir. Its nice but to say some people are going to @#!*% because of small things is a little much.” The problem I have with that statement is that he is calling one of the sahabah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon them all) a kafir. It’s similar to the Shia’a, and the Wahhabi in their takfir of either calling the Sahabah kafirs, or other muslims kafirs because they are in disagreement with their practice of Islam. We have to be very careful about this, especially in reference to the Sahabah (May Allah grant them peace).

  3. Ed says:

People like this should not be giving Khutbahs… That’s all I’ll say.

  4. Isbani says:

    As Salaamu Alaikum.

The brother has solid Islamic education. He is qualified to give the khutba, and everyone gets disagreed with at times, and everyone is wrong at times. So, in other words, “people like this” are the only ones that give the khutba because everyone has a complaint against someone.

There is no, repeat no, difference among scholars that shaving the beard is haram. If there is, I would like for someone to post it (scholars, not “scholars” or islamic thinkers).

Lastly, he did not say that if you drag your garments or shave you will go to hell. He said it leads to the hellfire and is in the hellfire. Quote correctly. Lots of things lead to the hellfire (eg drinking alcohol) lead to the hellfire too, but they do not necessarily mean that someone who dies without having repented will got hell, Allah said He will pardon who He wills.

  5. farhana ahmed says:

assalaimu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
to brother Yusuf , you def have an big misunderstanding about islam. i think you should study before you leave any comments in public website

  6. Al-boriqee says:

    asalamu alaikum

This is what happens when people infected with progressive ideology come into contact with simple and basic islamic information. If no one in the ummah does not give khutbahs like thus,, then you can bet your entire wealth that Allah will replace us with an entire nation of people who will fulfill giving kbutbahs like this.

As anyone with a shred of knowledge can see that within this comments section, we have people who completely fit tbis description as narrated by Numan bin Basheer who said

The example of the one who stands for the Hudood of Allah and the one who compromises the Hudood of Allah are like the people in a boat, some of whom occupy the upper deck and some occupy the lower deck. Whenever those in the lower deck need water, they have to go to the upper deck to retrieve it. So some of them said, ‘why don’t we make a hole in our deck so we do not harm the people of the upper deck?’ If the people do not stop them, they will all fall and be failures, but if they stop them they will all be saved

    (Bukhari)

This section in the comments for this khutbah is a clear demonstration of this hadeeth in practice
May Allah guide us all back to His Pleasure

    Asalamu alaikum

  9. Ukhtid says:

Mash’Allah! this is the kind of REAL no-nonsense kind of talk that we need in our Ummah today! May Allah A’zawajeul be ever merciful towards Usdath Abu Taubah and his family – AMEEN!!!

  10. Asad says:

    Assalaamu alaikum,
I do not disagree with the sunnah acts Br. Abu Tawbah mentioned on the member (pulpit) but I disagree with how he delivered his message. Abu Tawbah uses his emotions to convey the message. This is evident from his khutbah, from the sitting between the two parts of the khutbah, and the way he concluded his khutbah. I am sure he knows the etiquette of delivering a khutbah, the sitting part, the conlcusion and last be not least the pulpit from where he delivered the khutbah but was all of what I just mentioned in accordance with the sunnah of the Prophet (saws)? So brothers and sisters, we cannot just scream and yell on top of our lungs over a few sunnahs of the Prophet (saws) -as I see in some of our young brothers and sisters as well who learns a few things about the sunnah and go around pointing fingers at their brothers- and forget about other sunnah acts and claim that they are the followers of the Prophet (saws) and his companions. Allah(SWT) teaches the Prophet and us to be gentle with people in the Holy Quran And it was by God’s grace that you [O Prophet] did deal gently with your followers: for if you had been harsh and hard of heart, they would indeed have broken away from you. Pardon them, then, and pray that they be forgiven. And take counsel with them in all matters of public concern; then, when you have decided upon a course of action, place your trust in Allah: for, verily, Allah loves those who place their trust in Him. (3:159)
Another point I would like to make is about our youth in the western societies. There are a lot of youth who don’t know the basics of Islam, which are fardh upon each Muslim. They cannot recite the Shahadah, they miss their fardh prayer? When you ask them to give adhan, they cannot. We should be more concerned about this and hence be very gentle in dealing with our young or even old brothers and sisters and be forgiving? Otherwise, we, Allah forbid, will share the sin with them in running away from Islam. I am a teacher and for the past 9 years, I have been trying to gather a few brothers for the Jummah prayer but have not been successful. Every year, we might have only 3-5 jummahs at our school. It, sometimes, is very frustrating. However, I know that raising my voice at them and being harsh will not bring them to the prayer and plus I cannot do this here in the west. I exercise patience and I never gave up on these young students. When they come, Alhamdulillah, if not, Allah is the Creator and Knows what to do. I try my best to gather them by asking but I cannot take their hands and drag them to the prayer like Br. Abu Tawbah said to keep your wives at home if they are disobedient. You cannot just do that. There are ill-mannered wives who would just walk away from their husbands. The point is that a lot of Muslims, especially our youth, do not know or miss fardh, let alone practicing the sunnah. I am not saying to dismiss/leave sunnah completely, but what I am saying is to understand and sort out our priorities and be humble about our own knowledge, ask Allah for forgiveness for us and others and be gentle with people. Parents need to educate themselves about Islam, provide an Islamic environment and education for their children. Start with learning the language of the Quran. A suggested web site that a lot of people from around the world find very useful is http://www.lqtoronto.com. Here you can download Al-Madinah books and the DVD lessons. If you start here and be consistent in your effort and exercise patience and steadfastness, you will learn to understand the Quran when it is recited and, inshaAllah, your life will not be the same. Never forget to be humble about your knowledge of the deen and be gentle with your brothers and sisters. If you like the web site, and you will like it inshaAllah, then make dua for this humble servant of Allah-may He accept us-and spread the words. Have family gathering on a weekly basis and go over some simple reminders and teach people the language of the Quran once you learned enough.
