I can understand the concept as far as avoiding confrontation or brainwashing, but to close off one's ears to the extent of not listening to another at all to avoid brain washing disturbs me. Not listening to others is how we create walls between people. However, I do appreciate the special attention given to the need for Islamic scholars to English. This definitely encouraged more of a bridge-building state of mind. I am a little confused by the idea of closing one’s ears.
