Alhamdulillah! As A Muslimah, I experience discrimination, and threat of loss of livlihood because I dress modestly. Men also should wear beards and thaubs and kufi to distinguish themselves from non-Muslims for the sake of Allah…in support of their wives, daughters and sisters in Islam.
    Jazakallah,

    As Salamulaykum,
I would like to add to my earlier post, and say that dressing modestly is a gift from Allah that I treasure, and is not a hardship in anyway. My earlier point in that post is that I would like to invite Muslim men to participate in this gift as a way of life that is fulfilling and edifies one’s din. So often I see Muslimahs–in person and in the media, walking along with their husbands, brothers, fathers, etc and while the women are covered, their men are dressing like overgrown, rebelious teenagers; bare-faced w/o beards, wearing jeans, T-Shirts with sayings from the dunya..or logos that show their allegance to some sports team or another– rather than to Allah ta ala, Most High. This is incredulous and baffling to me, and makes me wonder how they can walk along without extreme shame or embarrassment with their wife or mother, etc. who is honoring herself as a dignified Muslimah and Islam in her dress. To Muslim men: if you want women to dress modestly; then start dressing like a Muslim yourselves. To the non-Muslim, the site of your attire in comparson to your wives, sisters, etc. gives a negative impression of Islam, since he/she can think the ‘rules’ of Islam only apply to women and supports their erroneous belief that Islam oppresses women. So, Muslim men, support the women in your lives and join them in dressing as a proper Muslim…with dignity and self respect..not some rapper-wanna-be or over-aged teenager. If it’s expected in your community for women to cover, then men at least need to support it by dressing appropriately also. May Allah grant you taqwa and salams
    JazakAllah

how does a muslim dress sister? please tell me the guidelines in which a muslim man should dress because i thought it was with modesty. The thaubs and kufis are cultural things that have nothing to do with islam but more so the culture of the arabs. You have jews and christians from that land who wear thaubs , and things of that nature where you wouldnt be able to tell the difference, now the beard yes, this is why the messenger(a.s.) gave instructions on how to wear it , to differentiate. As salaamu alaikum

  5. Maryam says:

Assalamu alaykum sir, in the west, men who dress modesty, use common sense. A sport coat over a dress shirt, tucked in, trousers not pants that are not tight, a Kufi, no sports logo. Look how Sh Hamza and imam Zaid dress in a dignified manner. They are American Muslims
