58:55What It Means to Be a Prophetic Community
About this lecture
In this wide-ranging lecture, the speaker challenges the North American Muslim community to reclaim its identity as a prophetic community — not defined by ethnicity, politics, or cultural background, but anchored in knowledge, sincere intention, and righteous action. Drawing on Surat Al-Ma'idah, Al-Fatiha, classical scholarship, and vivid contemporary examples, the speaker diagnoses three major crises facing Muslims today: the dominance of charisma over qualification, the reduction of iman to mere feeling, and the elevation of the individual self above the collective prophetic mission. The lecture closes with practical steps for building a functionally educated, community-rooted, and spiritually grounded Muslim life in America.
