Sawad ibn Ghaziyya (ra): Seeking Payback From the Prophet ﷺ | The Firsts

About this lecture

In this episode of *The Firsts*, Dr. Omar Suleiman introduces a new theme — companions who were physically touched by the Prophet ﷺ — beginning with the brief but beautiful biography of Sawad ibn Ghaziyya al-Ansari (ra), a veteran of Badr. The episode centers on a remarkable moment just before the Battle of Badr, in which Sawad seized an unexpected opportunity for a final embrace with the Prophet ﷺ, expressing his deep love and longing in case he did not survive the battle. Dr. Suleiman also draws out lessons on prophetic justice, the prohibition of riba, and the enduring legacy of this beloved companion.
