As-salaamu’alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuh,
Excellent! It’s great to finally have topics like this covered.
Another good lecture from the brother alhamdulillah.
However, there seem to be a couple of minor errors…unless I am in the wrong. I’m not sure of the methods of slaughter in the US, but here in britain they’re not quite as the brother describes: in britain chickens and other birds are strung up, not with their feet hanging down, but BY their feet, leaving their heads hanging down. Their HEADS are then dipped into the electrocuted water – this is meant to kill them faster, but there are three major issues with this ‘humane’ method: firstly, if the bird is large or has long wings like a goose, the wings actually hit the water first (try hanging upside-down and see how your arms hang below your head). Secondly, the water is sometimes not carrying enough charge and the creature only receives a large and extremely unpleasant electric shock. Thirdly, has anyone seen a person being electrocuted to death in the electric chair? I’m told it’s horrific, the person suffers greatly, their skin burns, their eyes burn, their hair catches fire, they die slowly. Sorry to be graphic!
Back to the lecture, my understanding of the stun gun is that it in fact shoots a bolt INTO the animal’s head, not against it. This is meant to kill them instantly, but of course in very many cases it doesn’t do that and instead causes the poor creature great suffering and pain.
Just thought I’d share this info…it doesn’t reduce the value of Bilal Phillips’ lecture in the least!!!
