May Allah help us attain the status of being the friends of Allah, because life is really futile without it. I wish he had more specific details of what the steps are that would get us closer.

to Lou=> I haven’t listened to the lecture yet, I was just about to but then i saw ur comment. There are so many ways of getting closer to Allaah, but among them include (1) waking up for qeeyam (night prayer), I mean if you really want to get closer to Allah, then you gotta try waking up for nightly prayer and be persistent in it. Will be difficult at the beginning, you would have to fight your sleep, but its really worthy it as it will bring u closer to Allaah. Second (2) is perfecting your fardh ( obligatory) prayers and transcending them to do the nawafeels (optional prayers). You gotta feel your prayers, when you reach that stage, then you gonna love praying and you will be at your Musallah ( prayer mat) before the azan ( call to prayer) even begins. And when you pray, all the dunyah just stops and nothing matters to you except your prayer. There other thing (3) is doing something for the sake of Allah only or leaving something purely for the sake of Allaah. For example you go out of ur way to help a muslim brother or sister even if that brother or sister has always seemed to be under ur nerves and in ur eyes they are the least persons deserving of your help, but u do it for the sake of Allaah. Wallah, if you do this purely for the sake of Allah, u will feel what its like to be a true slave of Allah. And obviously, Allah is Al-Wadud, the Loving, He loves His slaves and instructs us on how to gain His love. There are so many other ways besides the aforementioned one in which one can gain the love of Allah such as reading and contemplating on the Qur’aan and acting upon it, seeking knowledge etc. And Allaahu ya 3aalam ( Allah knows best). Hope that helps. May Allah accept from us.

Asalamualaikum warahmutalahi wabarakatu. May Allah increase us in eemaan and grant His friendship and closeness. May we be dependant on Allah and may Allah remove the love we have for this world from our hearts and make us humble and obedient servants. Oh Allah guide us and keep us firm on Your Path and keep our ibadah sincere and humble…Ameen.
