One Response to “ Khalid Latif – The Legacy of Malcolm X ”

  1. Rashaad says:

In the name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Gracious. I take refuge in Him from Shaytan. I ask Allah to guide my tongue – my pen to articulate and embody 4:135. Ameen.

It is hard, as a Black Muslim man in America, swallow light-skinned and dark-skinned immigrants anti-blackness. Yet, Shaytan covers their eyes and their ears to steal Allah’s (SWT) gifts of senses. Mashallah. Anti-Blackness does not solely exist outside of the international Muslim body. Anti-blackness extremely prevalent but lacks acknowledgment and discussion. However, those very anti-black brothers and sisters use a Black Muslim American man, like El Hajj Malik Shabazz, as aspirations to achieve justice for all Muslims.

If we continue to ignore anti-blackness – where do Black American Muslims belong? Being trapped between the Nation of Islam and mainstream Islam is uncomfortable. We can support each other as bridges to other communities like El-Hajj Malik El Shabazz’s life globally before and after his assassination. Inshaallah. May Allah bless him and allow his life to continue to change the world.

“I for one believe that if you give people a thorough understanding of what confronts them and the basic causes that produce it, they’ll create their own program, and when the people create a program, you get action.”

We need more light about each other. Light creates understanding, understanding creates love, love creates patience, and patience creates unity.

I’m for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I’m a human being first and foremost, and as such, I’m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.” – Malcolm X
