  5. Mariam Tan says:

    Hadith Qudsi 2:
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has said:
The son of Adam denied Me and he had no right to do so. And he reviled …Me and he had no right to do so. As for his denying Me, it is his saying: He will not remake me as He made me at first (1) – and the initial creation [of him] is no easier for Me than remaking him. As for his reviling Me, it is his saying: Allah has taken to Himself a son, while I am the One, the Everlasting Refuge. I begot not nor was I begotten, and there is none comparable to Me.

    (1) i.e., bring me back to life after death.

It was related by al-Bukhari (also by an-Nasa’i).

These is it my brothers and sisters. Even Allah ta’ala has suffered humiliations and mockings by the disbelievers. I believe that patience is the best remedy and that is the reason why to be patient is very important. Fire cannot stop fire! It needs some cooling action first. Allah ta’ala give us this Hadith so we may able to understand that these things was known to HIM to happened as test for the believers on how we will react with such. The thing is; we must see these as one of the signs of end of days and we must give importance to the faith that we have already in our hearts and guard in against evil thoughts.

Allah does not suffer. Reviled is different. Allah is worshipped but he does not gain from our worship. How would he suffer? We only wrong our own souls. Salam.

  9. Queen Voudica says:

Mr. Khan is a very good speaker. I especially like the explanation that the Holy Quran is really in Heaven and in our Hearts; so beautiful and pray that other nations would accept that as well. That the actions of one or one group does not represent a whole country.
    I have some questions:
Where in the Holy Quran does it say to stone people especially women for punishment? I thought it was only in the Sharia Law which is in violation of the Holy Quran. There are many ayats that say if the person repents there is no punichment. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)said the Quran is the best Hadith and do not write anything after the Quran, that the Quran comes from Allah.(6:113-117;25:30-31; 4:79-82; 3:50; 53:3). The Quran comes from Allah, and no one has given the authority to others after Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to write; this would be bida/innovations. This is the reason that Muslims, even Muslim Scholars, and Non-Muslims are against Shariah Law.
Mr. Khan says the Bible is full of violence. Mr. Khan neglected to specify if it was the Old Testament or the New Testament; hence Torah or Christen Bible. With much respect you ought not to group all Christians or all Jews together.

  10. abdullah says:

    Assallam U ALykum
For those who want to know what does the Islamic Adaan means, here it is for you to hear it again & master it:
    4×1 الله أكبر Allahu Akbar
    God is the greatest/most great
2x أشهد أن لا اله إلا الله
Ash-had an la ilaha illa llah
I testify that there is no deity except for God
2x أشهد أن محمدا رسول الله
    Ash-hadu anna Muħammadan rasulullah
I testify that Muhammad is a Messenger of God
2x حي على الصلاة Hayya ‘ala-salatt
    Make haste towards the prayer
2x حي على الفلاح Hayya ‘ala ‘l-falah
    Make haste towards success (reward)
    2×2 الصلاة خير من النوم
    Al-salatu khayru min an-nawm
    Prayer is better than sleep2
    2x الله أكبر Allāhu akbar
    God is the greatest!
    1x لا إله إلا الله
    La ilaha illallah
There is no deity except for God

  11. Queen Voudica says:

Here are a two more insightful remarks:
    from ‘Moe’
“What is interesting to me is that most media outlets in our country and our President have come out and denounced the burning of the Quran while saying NOTHING about the fact that our military was ordered to round up and burn Bibles that were sent to Afghanistan as they were in May of 2009. The Bibles that our military were ordered to burn could have been sent back to the US instead.”

    from ‘Tracy’
    Sahih Al – Bukhari 6 . 6 1 . 5 1 0
Uthman sent to every muslim province ONE COPY of what they had , copied , and ordered that ALL the other QURANIC
materials , whether written in fragmintary manuscripts or WHOLE COPIES , BE BURNT .

To close: Has the Muslim Ummah in the U.S.A. stood up, verbalized, written letters to condemn the senseless murders and mutiliations of non-Muslims in other countries? Has the Muslim Ummah in the U.S.A. stood up, verbalized, and written letters to tell other countries persecuting our flag and non-muslims that they are wrong to commit such violence? Or are you in the Muslim Ummah from the U.S.A. not saying anything because you are afraid? if so you should be ashamed of yourselves because if this applies to you then you are a phoney Muslim and not really spreading peace. You have no right to judge or speak against one culture without reviewing the world culture and making a positive difference. Open your minds.

salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wa baraktuhu. may Allah reward you for all your comments this was such an inspiring lecture. to my sister mariam. may Allah reward you for you reminder.amin, just be careful insha’Allah of stating that Allah ‘suffers’ for Allah’s creations can do Him no harm. alhamdulillah

  13. Vikar says:

Jazakallah for the upload. The lecture was powerful..Which masjid was this at?

  14. Salah says:

    @ Queen Voudica :

    As Salamu alaykum,

to answer few of your remarks: first, a copy of a quran is after all a book made of paper and as time goes by (or as you keeping reading it, mash’Allah), the paper get worn. For a GOOD muslim, when his copy of quran is in a bad shape, he has the obligation to dispose it in a proper way : burying it or… BURN IT. That’s one of the many reasons why that Quran burning event is so stupid.

Finally, Sharia means “path” or “law” and Sharia is ALL what Allah ordered us to do to worship him from making Udhu (washing in a particular way for the prayer, for example) to the Hudud (penalities for crimes). The source of the Sharia is the QURAN and the Sunna of the Prophet (peace be upon him)as you can read in the QURAN. Thus, in the Quran, the Had (single for Hudud) for stealing is cutting the hand of the thief and in the Sunna, the Had for fornication when done by a married MAN OR WOMAN is stoning. That’s the law of the One who knows us better than ourselves and that’s the law that muslims applied from the first era of islam to nowadays (except minor exceptions in time and space like westernized muslim countries after colonisation) from India to Andalusia.

    And Allah knows best.

  15. Aisha Neem says:

Subhanallah, excellent lecture. I loved the citings from the Qur’an.
    My favorite part:
[Disrespecting the Qur’an] is as stupid as spitting at the sun, it’s just going to fall back on your own face”

That was a stroke of genius…
Jazakallah Shaykh Nouman, you made me feel so much better about all the stuff on the news…

  16. ummalmuqaraboon says:

    Mashallah that was awesome

may Allah grant us all true guidance, and allow us to implement the knowledge we have, ameen

  17. Inqiyaad says:

Only Allah knows what is in the hearts. Queen Voudica, based on what you wrote, you come out as a reasonable person to me. InshaAllah, I will try to address your statements, although not necessarily in order that you brought them up.
Queen Voudica: Where in the Holy Quran does it say to stone people especially women for punishment? I thought it was only in the Sharia Law which is in violation of the Holy Quran.
Salah answered it very eloquently that.
    A. “Sharia means “path” or “law” and Sharia is ALL what Allah ordered us to do” end quote, and that
    B. “The source of the Sharia is the QURAN and the Sunna of the Prophet (peace be upon him) as you can read in the QURAN.” end quote.
    C. “Thus, in the Quran, the Had (single for Hudud) for stealing is cutting the hand of the thief and in the SUNNA, the Had for fornication when done by a married MAN OR WOMAN is stoning.” End quote. (Had is punishment/penalty. The evidence for stoning from the sunnah can be found in Sahih Muslim 3:1324 and Fath Al-Bari (5:355).)
There is abundant evidence for the above statements of Salah from the “Quran” itself, some of it is found in the verses quoted by you when you pointed out that “Quran is from Allah.” But so is the Messenger from Allah. For example:
    i. Surah: 4, Ayah: 80
“Whosoever obeys the Messenger, indeed he has obeyed Allah. As for those who turn away, We have not sent you to be their protector.”
    ii. Surah: 3, Ayah: 50
“Likewise confirming the Torah that has been before me and to make lawful to you some of the things you have been forbidden. I bring you a sign from your Lord, therefore, fear Allah and obey me.”
    iii. Surah: 53, Ayah: 2-3
Verse 2: “your companion (i.e Muhammad, peace be upon him) is neither astray, neither errs,”
Verse 3: “nor does he speak out of desire.”
    iv. Surah: 3, Ayah: 31
Say (O Muhammad to mankind): “If you (really) love Allâh then follow me (i.e. accept Islâmic Monotheism, follow the Qur’ân and the Sunnah), Allâh will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
What the prophet speaks (even apart from Quran) is not out of desire, but rather guidance from Allah. Anyone who denies this has fallen into DISBELIEF as mentioned in the ‘Quran’. For example:
    i. Surah: 4, Ayah: 150
“Verily, those who disbelieve in Allâh and His Messengers and wish to make distinction between Allâh and His Messengers (by believing in Allâh and disbelieving in His Messengers) saying, “We believe in some but reject others,” and wish to adopt a way in between.”
    ii. Surah: 11, Ayah: 59
“Such were ‘Ad (people). They rejected the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord and disobeyed His Messengers, and followed the command of every proud obstinate (oppressor of the truth, from their leaders).”
The crime of the nation of ‘Ad was two fold. First they rejected his Ayat. In the case of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), one of the Ayat would be the Quran. Second, they disobeyed the Messenger. Anyone who disobeys Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is falling into this second crime.
So when it is Mandatory to follow the Prophet (peace be upon him), it makes sense you record his statements and watch his every move. That is exactly what his companions did.
Queen Voudica: This is the reason that Muslims, even Muslim Scholars, and Non-Muslims are against Shariah Law.
From the above discussion it is very clear that the opposition by these so-called ‘muslims’ ‘muslim scholars’ is very ill informed and without evidence. In one of the verses you quoted (6:116), Allah describes such people:
    Surah: 6, Ayah: 116
“If you obeyed most of those on earth, they would lead you astray from the Path of Allah. They follow only supposition and they are but conjecturing.”
As for the opposition of non-Muslims to Sharia, it is obviously for reasons other than that. For example, they hate Allah and His Prophet (peace be upon him) and hate to submit their desires to the Judgment of Allah.
Queen Voudica: There are many ayats that say if the person repents there is no punichment.
Since, any explanation of the Quran has to be referred back to Prophet (peace be upon him) as is mentioned in the ‘Quran’
“O you who believe! Obey Allâh and obey the Messenger (Muhammad ), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority.(And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allâh and His Messenger, if you believe in Allâh and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination.”
This is what the Prophet (peace be upon him) says:
“…once a matter where prescribed punishment is required reaches me, I am obliged to carry out.” Abu Dawood: 4:540
As for the punishment that is mentioned in the verses you are talking about, it is the punishment in the hereafter. This again is clear from the statement of the prophet (peace be upon him) regarding Ma’iz after he had ordered that Ma’iz (A MAN, thus stoning is not especially for women as you had inaccurately stated) was to be stoned to death for committing adultery:
“He (Ma’iz) has made such a repentance that if that were to be divided among a people, it would have been enough for all of them.” Sahih Muslim, Book Number: 16, Hadith Number: 4205
The Prophet (peace be upon him) made a similar statement regarding a woman whom he had ordered stoned.
“…he gave the order and she was stoned to death. He then prayed over her (dead body). Thereupon Umar said to him: Allah’s Apostle, you offer prayer for her although she had committed adultery! Thereupon he said: She has made such a repentance that if it were to be divided among seventy men of Medina, it would be enough. Have you found any repentance better than that she sacrificed her life for Allah, the Majestic?” Sahih Muslim, Book Number: 16, Hadith Number: 4207
However, I would like to stress that putting someone to death is a serious matter. Hence, the prophet (peace be upon him) also taught us that a person should repent in private if the matter has not reached the authorities. If and when it reaches the authorities, they should exercise utmost caution in carrying out the execution. This is evident in the hadith mentioned above (Sahih Muslim, Book Number: 16, Hadith Number: 4205).
“Ma’iz ibn Malik came to Allah’s Apostle (peace be upon him) and said to him: Messenger of Allah, purify me. Thereupon he said: Woe to you, go back, ask forgiveness of Allah and turn to Him in repentance. He (the narrator) said that he went off a little way, then came and said: Messenger of Allah purify me. The Messenger of Allah said: Woe be upon you, go back and ask forgiveness of Allah and turn to Him in repentance. He (the narrator) said that he went off a little way, then he came and said: Allah’s Messenger, purify me. Allah’s Apostle (peace be upon him) said as he had said before. When it was the fourth time, Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: From what am I to purify you? He said: From adultery. Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) asked if he had been mad. He was informed that he was not mad. He said: Has he drunk wine? someone stood up and smelt his breath but noticed no smell of wine. Thereupon Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Have you committed adultery? He said: Yes. He made a pronouncement about him and he was stoned to death.”
Notice that when Ma’iz had not yet told the prophet (peace be upon him) about the sin he had committed (he had only made an abstract statement regarding purification and it could have been any sin, even a minor one, and the prophet did not want to know), he asked Ma’iz to seek forgiveness in private. But when he confessed to adultery, he confirmed that he was not insane or intoxicated and only then did he pass the judgment.

  19. Anisa says:

    Queen Voudica,
I would comment on you question whether Muslim here respond to any violent committed in other country?
Really, Are you suggesting that every muslim should responsible or somehow has to apologize for everything happen? There are about I billions muslim in the world, I do not have power over every single muslim act or mind.
do you think every christian has to apologize or respond for any crimonal act or atrocities that any Christian does?
The same thing with Jewish people or other belief?
Do you personally call or send the letter to any victims of US wars that have nothing to do with 9/11? The least I can do is offer my prayer. We can not blame on you or your parents if your brother decidec to kill somebody or something like that,it just does not make any sense.
CAIR organizations always send the letter comdemnination for any terrorist atttact, but people hardly hear this because the media won’t be so excited to broadcast that,I really do not know how much the muslim have to scream for this that people just close their ears, and keep complaining that we do not condem enough? Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhre- MLK-

The forgotten truth should be revealed; So the crying wolves could hear:
In the 1930s, when WPA workers were interviewing elderly African-Americans in Georgia’s Sea Islands, they were told of an ancestor named Bilali who spoke Arabic and owned a copy of the Koran — a remarkable fact when we remember that it was a crime for slaves to read. In the War of 1812, Bilali and his fellow Muslims helped to defend America from a British attack, inverting nearly all of our stereotypes in the process.

Assalmo alaikum . I have a very important question to ask . Pls clear it
Is today’s man worthy of being called “qawwam alan nisa” the man who is not bothered about hijab of his wife , he doesn’t mind making any other women his friend and doesn’t even mind if wife have boyfriends. man is spending all night either in front of tv or net , he is not bothered even to teach his kids Quran he objects his wife hijab . What’s the status of such men? Should they be followed and called qawwam!!

    • Salah says:

      Wa alaykoum assalam,
I think, that you’re talking about a MALE who has lost his manhood not a MAN and notice that the verse is talking about MEN. That’s just about the part of letting his wife making male friends and refusing her to wear hijab, the other prejudices being serious too and make him a “fasiq” wa allahou a3lam. By doing so, indeed, some scholars say that the “fasiq” has no “qiwama” over his wife which may lead to the revocation of the marriage contract.
I’m no scholar but I have an advice for women who had been plagued by such kind of husbands: qiwama is not the real issue here, it’s about deen, your deen, always keep that your first priority and act in consequence. May Allah guide us all.

  34. Johnny Strife says:

Ironically, this “Koran Burning” event was what brought me to Islam in the first place. After watching a report about this church on the news, I went to a bookstore and bought a Qur’an, so I could read it and find out what was so offensive about it that it made people want to burn it.

When I read the Qur’an, I immediately saw that it was the word of God, and went to a local masjid and took my Shahada a few weeks later.

So Allah can use even crazy people like that pastor and his church congregation to lead people to the Deen.
