Yasir Qadhi – The Rise of the Far Right

About this lecture

In this khutbah delivered shortly after the 2017 Charlottesville attack, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi warns the Muslim community about the rising tide of white supremacy, neo-Nazism, and Islamophobia, drawing historical parallels to the Holocaust and the internment of Japanese Americans. He offers four practical responses: educating oneself about extremist movements, understanding the political and psychological machinery of fear, grounding the community in Islam's uncompromising stance against racism, and building unity — first among Muslims and then with other marginalized communities. The khutbah concludes with a reminder about the sunnah of Salat al-Kusuf ahead of the 2017 total solar eclipse.
